Calm but murky
Weekend brings clearing
Thursday High pressure remains over the country on Thursday. Lots of cloud again. Dry in many places but some drizzle stretching from northwest England towards the southeast. Low cloud shrouding hills here. The best of any brightness in the far southwest of England and southwest Wales. Fog again in central and western Ireland, cloudier in the east. Some brightness developing in Scotland although here some fog. Cloudier skies in eastern Scotland. Highs at 3C in Scotland, 7 to 8C further south.
Thursday Night A weak front lingers across western Britain bringing drizzle to this area and eastern Ireland. Overcast skies in the west, potential for clearer areas in the east. Fog developing in the early morning hours where skies are clearer. Lows around 2C in the north, 5C in the south.
Friday A weak band of scattered drizzle remains draped across the Central Belt and south through the Irish Sea towards Devon for much of the day. Cloudy for England and Wales, some drizzle in northwest England and the west and north of Wales. A few brighter spells developing in eastern England although generally murky and mostly dry and cloudy. Cloudy across Ireland, building heavier in the northwest into the evening. Highs at 4 to 7C.
Saturday A series of weak cold fronts sink south overnight into Saturday producing light bands of drizzle here are there across England and Wales. Saturday sees clearing as brief period of high pressure builds first in the north, then migrating south. Western Scotland and Ireland will remain mostly cloudy with occasional drizzle, but inland areas of Scotland, as well as much of England and Wales, will see increasing bright and sunny spells through the day. Highs of 3C in the north, up to 7C south.
