Thursday
A large area of low pressure is the west of Ireland on Thursday. A band of rain extends through Northern Ireland, northwest England, the Midlands and into East Anglia and southeast England. Rain could be heavy on hills. Drier weather follows to southern Ireland, south Wales and southwest England. Windy in central and northern Scotland with a risk of gales. This afternoon sees the rain across much of southern and eastern Scotland, turning to snow over the Grampians, combined with a gale force southeast wind here. Further rain across northern England, clearing slowly from East Anglia. A mix if sunshine and heavy showers in the rest of England, wales and Ireland. Drier for the far north and west of Scotland. Highs at a mild 12 to 13C in southern England, 5C in eastern Scotland and the far northeast of England.


Thursday Night
Rain across northeast England, eastern and southern Scotland tonight. This is going to be turning to snow over the tops of the Grampians. Gales affecting the north and east of Scotland too. A further area of rain in southern Ireland, Wales and southern England, this area edging north during the night. Becoming drier in the southwest later. Lows at 4 to 8C.
 


Friday
Low pressure stays west of Ireland on Friday with a gale force southeast flow affecting much of Scotland. An area of rain bringing a wet morning in Northern Ireland and northern England, this extending through southern and eastern Scotland. The rain falling as snow on the Scottish Hills with the level of the snow lowering as colder air arrives during the day. Broken cloud with a few bright or sunny spells to the south, although showers will be forming. These becoming heavy and thundery over Wales and central England. Highs at 4C in eastern Scotland, 11C in southern England.


Saturday
A cold and breezy morning as a ridge of high pressure builds from Scandinavia and low pressure stays west of Ireland. A significant wind chill across all arreas making it feel bitterly cold. There will be bits of rain and sleet in much of England and Wales at first, with snow flurries affecting eastern areas. Tending to be drier to the west. The afternoon sees the snow flurries continue in the east, but most areas are likely to become drier. Remaining bitterly cold in the strong wind. Highs at 3 to 7C.
