A mainly dry day with sunny spells developing

Good morning,

A ridge of high pressure building through the country during today will bring a welcome spell of drier weather to many. There will be a fair amount of cloud this morning with a few spots of rain lingering in East Anglia. Brighter spells breaking through in more western and central areas with sunny spells for many.

This afternoon sees mostly dry conditions. There will be sunny spells, although a scattering of showers could be triggered in more central and southern parts of England. Increasing cloud in Ireland with some outbreaks of rain here, these then edging east with some drizzle in west Wales and Cornwall by evening.

A damp night ahead in Ireland and western Scotland with an increasing southerly wind. Drier in eastern areas and milder too.
