Morning Call - March 01, 2018
Disruptive snow for some
Bitterly cold for all

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 1st March 2018
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Bitterly cold, snow showers in the east, snow in the southwest

Good morning,

It's another bitterly cold day out there. The strong easterly wind will be bringing further heavy snow showers, most affecting the east of Scotland and the far northeast of England. Expect more disruption here with several centimetres of fresh snow falling. The wind chill will be severe.

A further area of snow will b affecting southern England. This is probably bringing some light flurries to many central and eastern parts of southern England, but across the southwest the snow could be heavier. This more persistent, heavier snow slips into the south and central parts of Wales as well as into southern Ireland. We also need to watch for a risk of some more persistent snow in central, southern England and parts of the western and southern Midlands in this evening. Elsewhere it stays bitterly cold.

Tonight brings heavy snow to southern Ireland and a further snow risk in southern Wales and southwest England. Snow showers on eastern coasts and feeling bitterly cold for all with temperatures below freezing and a strong east wind.
